Organizing The Perfect Closet Once and For All

Closet organizer in Noblesville apartment

You have found the best apartment. Natural light is streaming in through the windows, the kitchen are roomy, and you can't wait to take a bubble bath in the garden tub. As you start unloading your stuff into the closet, it becomes evident you may have too many clothes. And shoes. Maybe your friend won the roomier closet, your +1 actually has more clothes than you, or the space is more cramped than you recalled. Here are a few ideas to make the most out of your situation.

Hangers > folded piles!

Hangers are typically seen as a necessary evil. Acquiring hangers is something on your to-do list and not considered enjoyable. However, the types of hangers you use in your closet can increase or minimize space. Using velvet hangers will increse so much room in your closet and they're not super expensive. Also, keep your hangers the same color. It's pretty easy to become distracted by mismatched hangers.

Organize with a Purpose!

After you've switched hangers, organize your clothes by color then sleeve length. We have all been there - digging through blouses to find immaculate floral dress. Dividing up your closet from light to dark is easy, but have fun with it! Don’t forget you’re the one who has to look at it every day.

Folding SOME of your Clothes is Still Okay!

Not every piece needs to be on a hanger. Your sweaters, shirts, and jeans can all be folded into drawers or put away neatly on your closet shelves. Folding items will keep the closet immensity down. The difference between hanging and folded clothes will ensure you see your closet more easily.

Use ALLLLLL the Space!

Take advantage of extra storage for the lower half of the closet. Store accessories or folded clothing in the cubbies and keep shoes underneath. If there is still space, the top of the organizer you should definitely use. There is no unusable space in a closet - only unused potential.

+1 for the Road...

If space allows in the bedroom, a rolling rack is the perfect plus-one to any wardrobe. Create a plan for your outfits either daily or weekly, use your most coveted pieces as adornment, or just use the said rolling rack as additional storage space.
